The first two battalions for the 4th Rhinbund regiment included a voltigeur company comprising of men supplied by the duchies of Saxe- Coburg-Saalfeld.<br />
This has to be one of the most colourful uniforms EVER!! as can be seen above. <br />
These are obviously part of my commission for Perry miniatures new <a href="http://www.perry-miniatures.com/index.php?cPath=23_28_80&osCsid=2cpn9gs2vmorhl4voaaharjuq0" target="_blank">confederation of the Rhine range</a>. The
third battalion 4th regiment Confederation of the Rhine was designated
as light infantry and comprised of troops from the states of Saxe-Weimar
and Saxe-Hildburghausen. The third rank were armed with rifles. These
Perry miniatures are a real joy to paint, the dark green Prussian cut
uniform contrasts nicely with the buff belts. If you are in a rush to
get them finished you could always go for the later black belts! <br />

Well <a href="http://www.perry-miniatures.com/" target="_blank">perry miniatures</a> have just released what has to be the most colourful range of Napoleonic soldiers ever!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The Confederation of the Rhine in all its glory!<br />
<br />
I
have ordered the 5th to start. The 5th regimant comprises the Lippe and
Anhalt battalions. As soon as I have these babies painted up I will move
onto the 4th and I can't wait!<br />
<br />
There is quite a lot of
info out the on the Rhinebund but it can be quite confusing. Alan Perry
has very kindly broken down the regimental organisation on the website,
which will be helpful to get you going.<br />
As i paint the regiments I will try and find the time to write a little potted history. <br />

As the world is going to end this year I have decided to jack the rat race and go full-time with my painting service. My website is now live but still a WIP <a href="http://www.hallmarkpainting.co.uk/">LINK</a> . This blog, as well as my others will remain hobby related. Apart from the little advert on the top right and bottom of the the blogs and this short post I will not be commercialising them. So if you like what you see and you either got to much cash or to much lead for Christmas, send it my way!Steve hhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08079284842321565503noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2961243463891854691.post-11128656498073284942012-01-03T23:11:00.002+00:002012-01-03T23:11:54.760+00:001st company of Prussians<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Well I managed to finish my first company and I must say these are a painters dream! I knocked them out in no time at all. I have ordered a flag from Flags of War and look forward to receiving it and finishing the rest of the battalion. I am not sure whether to include a mounted officer or just stick with one on foot? You have to make so many difficult decisions in this hobby, it makes my tiny brain hurt...Steve hhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08079284842321565503noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2961243463891854691.post-29964320171441934632011-12-30T14:42:00.000+00:002011-12-30T14:49:30.031+00:00Prussian colour test<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I had the outlaws over on boxing day and I managed to cook a slap up Christmas dinner for 12 adults plus the children without to much of a hitch, apart from having a bit of a Gordon Ramsay temper tantrum as I was about to dish up and the Mrs decided she needed to pop out. <br />
Even more amazingly I managed to sneak upstairs to my hidihole during the festivities and paint this Prussian chap up. I must admit after finishing 18 British heavy Dragoons with all their laced dapper uniforms, the simplicity of the Prussian uniform is a Godsend. I'm not sure how long he took as I was only able to sneak away for moments at a time, luckily I was never caught by the boss! <br />
I am happy with the result and have started the rest of his company of 8 which will be the start of the first battalion 2nd infantry regiment. This I will be completing as and when between commissions, so not sure how long until you will see the finished article. I also need to source the flags, any ideas? <br />
After that I have some nice officers to do as well as my first regiment of Uhlans<br />

I have just finished painting these beauties! <a href="http://victrixlimited.co.uk/">victrix</a> heavy dragoons.They are a real pleasure to paint, with great detail and I love the horses. These represent the Inniskillings during the Peninsular campaign. More pics to follow once Steve has based them up Steve hhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08079284842321565503noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2961243463891854691.post-24642591915472037622011-03-19T14:32:00.002+00:002011-03-19T14:56:50.051+00:00Quote of the day<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQ0_NH3gPH1xqdMS63Ek47nGx-lWOyBrsXvVZai_R6-9TG4lokUQKj0IpiPMgtYUOZREeLEP6IXSdRPXY232gcKbUiAdSiIx_poqNqNP6KysKfoF9gwAJ_bhN0LEMlAsyCDbXJPwG7N6o/s1600/bruns1.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 292px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5585804974813096642" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQ0_NH3gPH1xqdMS63Ek47nGx-lWOyBrsXvVZai_R6-9TG4lokUQKj0IpiPMgtYUOZREeLEP6IXSdRPXY232gcKbUiAdSiIx_poqNqNP6KysKfoF9gwAJ_bhN0LEMlAsyCDbXJPwG7N6o/s400/bruns1.jpg" /></a><br /><div>Yesterday my wife said to me " Why don't you mow the lawn while the grass is short"</div><br /><div>Maybe its just me, but if the grass is short don't you just leave it alone? I have decided to be ruthless with my lead mountain and i have restricted myself to six draws of unpainted lead. Each draw will house a different project. This is a five year plan, but being as fickle as any other easily distracted wargamer, where the mood and my imagination takes me, i am sure to follow.<br /><br />So here it is in order of importance<br /><br />PROJECT 1. NAPOLEONIC 1815<br /><br />This is where i am spending most of my hobby time right now. The 28mm Napoleonic wargamer is now truly spoilt for choice when it comes to figures and rules. Over the last few years Perry miniatures Napoleonics range has kept growing at a fantastic rate. With the new golden age of hard plastic figures upon us having huge armies is now something we can all reasonably budget for. This was one of the reasons I got back into Napoleonics in the first place. I have had a seven year break after selling off my massive Austrian and French 1809 campaign armies, which i created using AB figures 15mm range.<br /><br />So with that in mind, how comes the regiments which I am starting my new collection with are all metal figures? it would of been much cheaper and simpler for me to buy and paint up half dozen British and French battalions using the box sets available and just add the plastic cavalry regiments. Especially now Perrys have announced their British hussars plastic box set.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIktq8UFRjUOCkO442lCCLnfq17qZrRNedYCIEa1LROl3J_K0CTXx-LbTcuuZF5objCUxbn2F5Xir4tSY5lZ5LuzYGpiFPiTUNVHNlC6x-vNbnDYLO2nqrG6J7bXB_HH3RksHohTgYEPc/s1600/brithuss.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 324px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIktq8UFRjUOCkO442lCCLnfq17qZrRNedYCIEa1LROl3J_K0CTXx-LbTcuuZF5objCUxbn2F5Xir4tSY5lZ5LuzYGpiFPiTUNVHNlC6x-vNbnDYLO2nqrG6J7bXB_HH3RksHohTgYEPc/s400/brithuss.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5516368039730024306" border="0" /></a><br />But, no. That would be far to easy...<br />What really caught my imagination was reading "The Battle of Quatre Bras" by Mike Robinson. A fantastic book which I literally could not put down.<br />So I have plunged headlong into recreating the forces involved in this confusing, exciting and very messy battle. Luckily for me there were some very interesting and colourful regiments involved. being your typical Englishman and proud, I shamefully no next to nothing about our allies in the conflict, except that they were just there to make up the numbers......<br />So when I am not changing nappies or painting I am educating myself by researching the Dutch, Belgian and German armies of 1815.<br /><br />PROJECT 2. DARK AGE ENGLAND<br /><br />I already have an army of hairy Norwegians which I have gamed with regularly over the past few years, it is currently and slowly evolving into a Hiberno-Norse force with the addition of some Gripping beast and Crusader Irish.<br /><br />I have recently bought WAB2 and look forward to my first game using the army under the new rules on the 23rd October. We are playing a what if? scenario. What if Hardrada had beat Godwinson at Stamford bridge and made his way south to face Billy the bastard.<br /><br />I will write up a detailed battle report on my rather forgotten blog <a href="http://1066campaign.blogspot.com/"> link</a><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLJWj618_9n8JfglHlFAJ4_GG97RWspKoryHEMaB8_Ce1HWzXa9hDj01RjOAhUu3m_z2LSMp7UBbcLXPjGHt3b7XLl-i2ytCRdLstERoihvVfkWSLHFQ-OvZoch3QI0VxZW51UjGFusdk/s1600/battle+of+white+moors+200.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 280px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLJWj618_9n8JfglHlFAJ4_GG97RWspKoryHEMaB8_Ce1HWzXa9hDj01RjOAhUu3m_z2LSMp7UBbcLXPjGHt3b7XLl-i2ytCRdLstERoihvVfkWSLHFQ-OvZoch3QI0VxZW51UjGFusdk/s400/battle+of+white+moors+200.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5529030411178500818" border="0" /></a>To be continued....Steve hhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08079284842321565503noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2961243463891854691.post-59586000663708745762010-09-08T14:50:00.003+01:002010-09-08T15:17:36.648+01:0014 down 29 to go....<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisMDpSthGhq4Bf9XwmgITgfoNUPncuEQsp-e4bOCRrKyfwNA6j41CqayBihV1n7OxdIc6f7vfud_XgFlAuNuTUahNXMBvESdBTh3fv6wVrjAOLBV2DErG5TIEv0_GOKGshtgH0wCgggJ8/s1600/von+raukov+010.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 225px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisMDpSthGhq4Bf9XwmgITgfoNUPncuEQsp-e4bOCRrKyfwNA6j41CqayBihV1n7OxdIc6f7vfud_XgFlAuNuTUahNXMBvESdBTh3fv6wVrjAOLBV2DErG5TIEv0_GOKGshtgH0wCgggJ8/s400/von+raukov+010.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5514540120463468258" border="0" /></a>Well its taken me over a week, but i now have 14 green coated Germans finished.<br />I would like to say the next lot will be quicker now i have my new bulb. But sadly I need to concentrate on finishing some commissions over the next four weeks. That will then give me only one week to paint, varnish and base all 43 Nassauers plus 4 Dutch guns and their crews, if I am going to remain on schedule for SELWG. Here I will be treating myself to the next purchase on my list. Its a big one, again with two different languages. They will look stunning but may well be the Napoleonic wargamers equivalent of a King Tiger. Not that I am getting to excited thinking about it!<br />First I have work to do.Steve hhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08079284842321565503noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2961243463891854691.post-17889060665544233702010-08-30T08:45:00.005+01:002010-08-30T08:59:33.873+01:00lights, camera, ACTION!Well my new bulb turned up safe and sound, so now i can crack on with the next batch. I have had one on order from a chap on eBay for a few days now, so hopefully it will arrive without being damaged by my <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">posty</span> so i can crack on.<br /> Talking of eBay it seems marshal Ney has been kidnapped by the mafia as he has disappeared in Italy somewhere ( i may wake up with a horses head in my bed just for saying this, but atleast it will make a change from the mrs). This is not the first time I have sent something to Italy and it has disappeared, maybe their posties are all wargamers? Anyway now i have to try and get compensation from royal mail which i have never successfully done in the past, like any insurance pay out they are always looking for an excuse not to pay. The money i made from selling this bought me the 2nd battalion of Nassau Usingen which are now undercoated awaiting the new bulb.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmQQ2DQOTlMIrfWdBUcLufNMKCsWoCdJyp_k6YS_HZiLqrKIQ6jITOcm7ako3I25XqCB0qKCZz8lz3aFQJ1TZCVBj_JqJEaRkydznR1NNq0kdU_MdHxVWR7TADJI3edw7Qte15Zro004g/s1600/nublk+001.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmQQ2DQOTlMIrfWdBUcLufNMKCsWoCdJyp_k6YS_HZiLqrKIQ6jITOcm7ako3I25XqCB0qKCZz8lz3aFQJ1TZCVBj_JqJEaRkydznR1NNq0kdU_MdHxVWR7TADJI3edw7Qte15Zro004g/s400/nublk+001.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5509658988012105474" border="0" /></a>here's what a 43 man battalion looks like undercoated, this may take a while...<br /><br />I have decided that i will base them on 6 60mmx45mm bases which will give them a nice chunky compact look. It may only be 9 figures strong but that is pretty good for me!<br /><br />Here is a few photos of them skirmishing in the Bois de Bossu.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhW9TWPr3S-19g0NpF1yt01FJLxp99K4jyyoEJbIjR5vsI-u0MKHRspYynxVWm9GmbxqbnL-az_qjjBjcI003206R40lCR1NcMFlvzHd2tWH77aAPtoqcs7cVyKAomA_ucHz3eAI6EvFu4/s1600/jagers1+018.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhW9TWPr3S-19g0NpF1yt01FJLxp99K4jyyoEJbIjR5vsI-u0MKHRspYynxVWm9GmbxqbnL-az_qjjBjcI003206R40lCR1NcMFlvzHd2tWH77aAPtoqcs7cVyKAomA_ucHz3eAI6EvFu4/s400/jagers1+018.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5507785393017439218" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1chccwAcHD2xa9B3CkMvLzEJbrcjZQT_2pMgv_mnSCZ8PlL308GvE6PwJ_rGHD-_-YOXuY7EyqsVk6KgubwUi2BhSySNE8L1sq78fwLGtdv49ouuEa_zsCSJnsbiyCqdx17m-Sw-n0FM/s1600/jagers1+016.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1chccwAcHD2xa9B3CkMvLzEJbrcjZQT_2pMgv_mnSCZ8PlL308GvE6PwJ_rGHD-_-YOXuY7EyqsVk6KgubwUi2BhSySNE8L1sq78fwLGtdv49ouuEa_zsCSJnsbiyCqdx17m-Sw-n0FM/s400/jagers1+016.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5507786452965784946" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7vERyK-I7azGXtGnOE1eBRl0TE7IcLr6WWsnoabZ8R2Fl2QV9WJ7pWtLvEkg0qeROSmoNNQO1z-GYRAXwadL6hNBRjycMVHJlFnYdy3xRSQzyFMHLQPnHd8ZuB2vkKQjpRztK7Y4tmdg/s1600/jagers1+014.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7vERyK-I7azGXtGnOE1eBRl0TE7IcLr6WWsnoabZ8R2Fl2QV9WJ7pWtLvEkg0qeROSmoNNQO1z-GYRAXwadL6hNBRjycMVHJlFnYdy3xRSQzyFMHLQPnHd8ZuB2vkKQjpRztK7Y4tmdg/s400/jagers1+014.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5507786456960786066" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmJv2JCJLlXScfteTmgJ77k87ziv4Uzayfcxpc0SwVJTJTLA0xlKGwfsQaRRWeWB762_QwxrreY3HPUa6xnlU0xZp0J1mG4GOHJLb-jD1JLbZQbrjQ6HDz56yLgkBLvjxt4pyJ8VPPJE8/s1600/jagers1+013.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmJv2JCJLlXScfteTmgJ77k87ziv4Uzayfcxpc0SwVJTJTLA0xlKGwfsQaRRWeWB762_QwxrreY3HPUa6xnlU0xZp0J1mG4GOHJLb-jD1JLbZQbrjQ6HDz56yLgkBLvjxt4pyJ8VPPJE8/s400/jagers1+013.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5507785380302491650" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkAVKSU72zRF2C7G0A1dKu7DWMjv6k4zlO22Nt1J-OvmTZbo5uO7T349nu2Nw8aXHA7jhloomWXbfP-I6SFS8v8pDjLa1ZYOubtFS9_itlRRQH4US2eBN4OrMlefdkJFUfbLQdBwhunyQ/s1600/jagers1+011.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkAVKSU72zRF2C7G0A1dKu7DWMjv6k4zlO22Nt1J-OvmTZbo5uO7T349nu2Nw8aXHA7jhloomWXbfP-I6SFS8v8pDjLa1ZYOubtFS9_itlRRQH4US2eBN4OrMlefdkJFUfbLQdBwhunyQ/s400/jagers1+011.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5507785378819475266" border="0" /></a><br /> My idea for this project is to paint the units as they turned up on the front line. After reading The battle of Quatre Bras, i was sure they were part of the skirmish at Frasnes. After rereading the opening of hostilities it seems these chaps didnt turn up until the next evening at Quatre Bras itself.<br /> So they have jumped the queue somewhat but that doesn't matter as it has given me a chance to test the choice of colour for the large Nassau contingent I will be painting.<br /> I will list the colours here more as a reminder to myself more than anything.<br /><br />coats and trousers = Foundry forest green 26A- 26A/B 26 A/BB 26B<br /><br />skintone = citadel dwarf flesh, flesh wash, elf flesh<br /><br />Belts = Foundry buff 7A i originally highlighted the belts but they looked better flat buff.<br /><br />piping= Foundry Ochre 4B<br /><br />bases = Vallejo chocolate brown, foundry base sand 10A, citadel kommando khaki. edged Vallejo earth brown<br /><br /> <span style="font-style: italic; color: rgb(255, 204, 0);">Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.</span><span style="color: rgb(255, 204, 0);"> Sir Winston Churchill</span><br /><br />With that quote in mind I will prep up the 2nd battalion of the 2nd Nassau-Usingen regiment all 43 of them!!!Steve hhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08079284842321565503noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2961243463891854691.post-4106808623131936002010-08-18T20:32:00.000+01:002010-08-18T20:52:55.639+01:00Back from BritconI had a successful shop at Britcon last weekend. Thanks to Dave T's stand i now have enough Nassau troops to see me through to Christmas. I also managed to sell off a shed load of GW plastics as well as offload a few chunks of my lead pile. <br /><br /> So to start with I am painting up the Nassau volunteer jaeger company, 9 figures in all. These will be my test figures for the rest of the Nassau contingent hopefully i will get a green i like. At the moment they seem a bit dark, but i guess as the green is listed as dark green then i am not to far off. They just look a bit dull. Hopefully the ochre coloured belts and yellow piping should brighten them up a little. <br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9u6IMb-CUKPDfga33eC9hmz3AMCDAfT34nS00iXdmcx1qkSajtTED19DVFoisbLpYE-lBh3-AtM-eIe2C4JBzGzfwoU0BzTI9cDtmSVTJaIYtNAtTuYAzAoyyVOQarhfLaK7gC6LmNTk/s1600/bella+posing+023.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9u6IMb-CUKPDfga33eC9hmz3AMCDAfT34nS00iXdmcx1qkSajtTED19DVFoisbLpYE-lBh3-AtM-eIe2C4JBzGzfwoU0BzTI9cDtmSVTJaIYtNAtTuYAzAoyyVOQarhfLaK7gC6LmNTk/s400/bella+posing+023.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5506835485139514482" border="0" /></a><br /> Once these are finished i may go off course and paint up a few Voltigeurs to try out the song of Drums and Shakos rules. <br /> <br /> I hope to have these boys finished tomorrow and will post new, better pics then.Steve hhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08079284842321565503noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2961243463891854691.post-44494971803309073982010-08-11T13:14:00.001+01:002010-08-11T14:15:46.268+01:00More French command stands<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5W1eWkV8eoQpcxT5vTOJozYKDg1ycBR_YsDFBD83v9OcuCd9kRKC0Iz9BwKG0ZB9xA6r-KKSGKQUMXCY9oEHzXbm7fxalzFUUHzVWFZ1IuTE2ecwGo_wxLIhZqEgb8bW-0VieChiOW00/s1600/ebaynaps2+006.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5W1eWkV8eoQpcxT5vTOJozYKDg1ycBR_YsDFBD83v9OcuCd9kRKC0Iz9BwKG0ZB9xA6r-KKSGKQUMXCY9oEHzXbm7fxalzFUUHzVWFZ1IuTE2ecwGo_wxLIhZqEgb8bW-0VieChiOW00/s400/ebaynaps2+006.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5504126245358908258" border="0" /></a>Here is my latest batch of French painted to finance the project. I found it hard to put these boys up for sale because i was really pleased with how they came out. I had to content myself with the knowledge that they are serving a higher purpose and when the time is right I will repaint them for my own collection. They are on Ebay if you press on the name it will link you to the auction.<br /><br /> I am currently refining my shopping list for Britcon. As well as a few pieces from Perrys I am thinking of buying some Hovels buildings. The only thing putting me off is Grand manner should be releasing his new Quatre Bras buildings next month. So maybe i should wait for them?<br /> <br /> I have just downloaded "song of Drums and Shakos" by <a href="http://www.ganeshagames.net/napoleonic/">Ganesha</a> games. I have their fantasy rules which are good fun, so hopefully these will be just as good for Napoleonics.<br /> My plan is to use these rules for small skirmish games. For larger skirmish up to divisional level I will be using General de Brigade. These are the rules I first played Napoleonic wargaming with. Having had a long break from this period I have managed to buy and read quite a few different rules for the era. Some good some not so good.....<br /> Anyway DB and I used to be running partners so it would be rude not to use his masterpiece.<br />I have never played it using 28mm, i just hope my table is big enough otherwise i will have to build a larger one!<br /> If i ever paint enough figures and to play corp level games then I will probably switch to black powder. GdeB can become a little bogged down when the game gets to huge unless you have lots of players to help it run smoothly. Enthused by my recent read of the magnificent "The Battle of Quatre Bras 1815" by Mike Robinson. I have declared my favourite colour is now orange and the Netherlands troops were not just a bunch of cowards who ran away. well, except maybe for the 5th Light Dragoons....<br />My plan now is to start painting forces for the start of the campaign. Then I will add them as they appeared on the battlefield of Quatre Bras.<br />So to start with I will be painting up the forces I need to play the opening skirmish at Frasnes.<br />To finance my new project I will be painting up more Napoleonic figures and selling these on Ebay. My first batch sold last week and include these pictured below from perry miniatures. Marshal Ney is my favourite Perry miniature so far. The Perry range just keeps growing and growing!<br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWdBSRqQFnuLZLDn5rXbLmloFzBXi-kAUCXJn6jdBgh6aXmvrAnFSl9jsg_HJ-zJbVdcgrbacyPqrkT2z2Kkxb9rAO5sLEawyIed-fRZWnxMKpbey9cWOTvKPhm95kvCpiXFSmShr6Uio/s1600/ebynap1+017.JPG"><img style="display: block; I was hoping to do a WIP post, but the first few pictures I took were blurred. When I have more time I will do a more detailed account from start to finish. As I have so many to paint and I want them to look good as a whole rather than as single figures I have taken a few shortcuts. They have only been given 2 shades instead of my usual 3-5. The only extra highlight has been on the faces. I wasnt brave enough to try the "army painter" varnish, instead to help speed things up I have used GW washes on the skintones and blue jackets. </div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5373836793823992562" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 264px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxZ_udERndiBJe3lxgwxZTA008dqDVyw3U0_J2gIV5Mk42_EqvC0nEV5a1PDWdXFkQlZ8HroAF8YMaXiiDSYG0YhIDq0ZrD2-QDjWTyEGBfoyMd8VPC5dxNRQT6KYOjkY4kwdpooVpsto/s400/naps1+002.JPG" border="0" /><br /><div>the most time consuming parts were painting the white and detailing the lining. These probably took as much time to do as everything else put together. All I have left to do is dirty the trousers and lower parts of the greatcoats, for this i will use my chalk pastels when i can find them....</div></div>Steve hhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08079284842321565503noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2961243463891854691.post-41642561981160372009-08-22T18:16:00.000+01:002009-08-22T19:14:50.666+01:00Perry miniatures order<div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1Z2aX15urvipQzYeutjUeXUluM2gH5LjmasAZTUj3E5MH8UEBc-_6kQUuD6vvpYT46jFTfE4TU8j36dNd1IhOqMmEG5aiGBUxn6UShwWzjZ7uedLd4Rl8RVtYYCuycPPcDwiiQ2kphao/s1600-h/aug1+014.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5372838797901257778" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1Z2aX15urvipQzYeutjUeXUluM2gH5LjmasAZTUj3E5MH8UEBc-_6kQUuD6vvpYT46jFTfE4TU8j36dNd1IhOqMmEG5aiGBUxn6UShwWzjZ7uedLd4Rl8RVtYYCuycPPcDwiiQ2kphao/s400/aug1+014.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div></div></div><br /><p>I have just been putting together all the French I have ordered so far from Perry miniatures. This is the beginning of my 1815 project. I will be starting with II corp 5eme division d'infanterie, 2eme brigade. This is something I have been putting on the backburner for years now. Enthused with the recent releases form Perrys I am now finally cracking on with it (well i havnt painted anything yet but i have been doing plenty of research)..... </p><br /><p>This brigade has 5 under strength line battalions led by General de Brigade Baron de Campi. I have bought 2 boxes of plastic French line, giving me 84 figures, I also bought a pack of NCOs a regimental command pack, mounted colonels plus lots of high command and ADCs. so lots to be getting on with!! </p><br /><p>This will be my first try at 28mm Napoleonics, I have previously had a large 1809 collection of Austrians and French in 15mm. For this I used General de Brigade rules. For my 28mm project i am as yet undecided about the rules i will use. General de brigade is a good solid set of rules but can become bogged down. What I would like is a simple set which has lots of period flavour. I am thinking of buying wargames foundries new "Napoleon" set of rules, but every forum I have read has nothing but bad things to say about it...... </p><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5372850507674944690" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 360px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 368px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcU92V1vrRFsMA0w2SMRocjjQf0KXmyCj_WIZ_1UocHtJK5EwAIuTFltIcyICO_amurXci3TpFp9lmgwU8fF5TMBmgxtwzyS9LPGnlU_-e3sTuLozHbQ0_e9nPK_7VRtbkkTge5JRGxt8/s400/7yw5+014.jpg" border="0" /><em>some of my 15mm AB figures painted a few years back</em><br /><p>On the horizon there are two new rule books coming "Blackpowder" by Rick priestly via Warlord games and Republic to Empire by the League of Augsburg. These both look very interesting and I am eagerly waiting to get my grubby hands on them pair.. </p>Steve hhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08079284842321565503noreply@blogger.com0
